Next Chapter Book Club

100_3110Are you an adult with Down syndrome or other developmental disability who thinks you might enjoy being part of a book club? Our Next Chapter Book Club, which kicked off in March 2010, meets in the Boynton Beach Mall food court every Wednesday at 7pm. Participants socialize with friends and learn new stuff through engagement in literacy opportunities like reading books, being “dramatic” with plays or writing a review a new movie!

Check out the NCBC website to find out more about the project and then email us at or phone 561-752-3383 to let us know you’re interested in joining one of our NCBC groups. We are always recruiting volunteers to facilitate new book clubs. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more. The volunteer commitment is one hour per week for a minimum of 14 weeks or the reading of one book. We look forward to your inquiry.

The Next Chapter Book Club (NCBC) is a program of The Ohio State University Nisonger Center, a research and training center on developmental disabilities. The program was founded in 2002 and has grown to over 100 book clubs.

The mission of the Next Chapter Book Club is to provide meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning, social connections, and authentic community engagement for people with developmental disabilities through weekly book club meetings that include people with all reading levels.
