2009 marked the 15th Buddy Walk® for the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization. We continue to spread our message of community awareness as the Buddy Walk® grows in supporters each year. The tremendously successful event, attended by 2000 people, was held Sunday, October 18th in John Prince Park, Lake Worth. Teams selected our One-Mile Advocacy walk or our 5K Fitness Walk. This year we served breakfast goodies and encouraged participants to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with family and friends. The Lake Avenue location of Rita's Italian Ice was on hand to give away delicious icees to our walkers even though this year's walk will be remembered for its unseasonably cold weather! There were lots of teams and lots of thoughtfully designed banners to show Buddy Walk® spirit and support!
